Clash of the Titans
A film whose previews before ALICE played, had me very excited an anxious to see.
Im in Spokane Washington, and besides recording, there isnt much left to do with free time. Im out in the wood for most of the time and we thought “Hey, lets get out and see Clash of the Titans”. I mean, the previews were pretty epic. Huge monsters, great graphic imagery. This could be good!
Well… I was insanely disappointed. I was expecting something that would encompass the graphic detail of Lord of the Rings, a cast of a great actors, an awesome sound scape and good detail to character.
Instead, I got a joke of a mixture that feels like someone combined Lord of the Rings (the generic version) with 300 and then for good measure threw in a random Star Wars Ewok.
The movie was such a joke right from the start. The casting was terrible for the sub characters and extras (i suck, i pay attention to these things) and the MAKE UP!?!?! WTF was wrong with wardrobe and make. It looks like they hired the wardrobe and make up department from the movie Battlefield Earth which also was terrible!
I started noticing the people in the theater laughing at the movie more than they were actually in awe of the character. Seriously moments were more hilarious as they started to come off more and more as a joke. For instance. The pegasus landing on the ground during the demon chase, for 5 steps its sound like the sound guy turned up the coconut horse shoe sounds super loud and was so out of place.
The thing that pissed me off the most… The Kraken. How do you have an amazing monster and show him for a few minutes and not let the actual lead actor battle it to the death? I was waiting the whole movie for that moment and then i was cheated. So angry!
The only redeeming quality this film has is that they did a good job on some of the animation was done well but the syncopation was off in movements that should have been more lifelike. I mean… with that big of a budget you would think they would right. This feels like a recession movie. The money was there but instead of making the most out of it, they blew it on strippers and cocaine figuratively and now I want my life back since they already got my money.
Want to see the lesser of two evils but a much better job… go see Percy Jackson & The Olympians. Its much better.

I’m excited to see this when I saw the trailer with the music ‘the bird and the worm’ of The Used.
but reading your review, I really know how class of movie this are.
that ‘supermassive special effects’ and nothing of story. it’s are sooooo boring!
(Avatar’s basically the same of this)
maybe they could film some J.R.R.Tolkien story (Childrem of Hurin, or something of Silmarillion) and
with this technology, maybe create a great movie!
anyway, I’m will wait ‘The Hobbit’ to go in theater see a ‘fantasy’ movie!
cheers =**

Ok Dan, I gave it a mixed review but I think you are not basing it off the original. Watch the original first. I didnt want to spoil it, but MOST people if ANYTHING should be pist off about the owl not being used. Im 32 so the movie was even before my time but I saw it twice in my life and EVERYONE remembers the Owl, Medusa and a couple other key points.
If you take the movie in that context it has AWESOME graphics compaired to the original. I dont think every movie has to be like avitar.
Sometimes, its great for a movie that was orginally cheesy, for the new one to be a step up but not crazy different. Alice is the same, good movie but not Alice in Wonder Land.
This held true to the story and was awesome MINUS my fucking OWL!!!!!

Im way pissed about the owl. I just remembered that! haha. When he said “whats this” holding the owl and the guy says “youll find out later” or whatever… what a GIP!!!

Yea, he said something like “Oh, thats junk”. I loved that owl in the original. Hades is good if people understand the whole story of him. I loved how he flew in larger than life into sceens. That was cool. And the glimmering “god” was cool as hell if you saw it in 3D.

I think Im going to rent the original because its been a long time and see if I get the same feel.
